Julie Petrůjová
Julie Petrůjová is a photographer originally from Ostrava, currently based in Prague. Since 2020, she has been studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, in the Fine Art Studio. Her practice focuses on long-term work in the darkroom, where she explores the possibilities of analog photography through experimentation. She has worked with noble printing processes and later with light-sensitive emulsion, with the image-making process itself being a key part of her practice.
Her work addresses themes of slowness, calm, and relaxation in contrast to the overstimulation of contemporary society. At the same time, she investigates the fundamental principles of photography, its materiality, and the boundaries of the medium. An experimental approach and an emphasis on photographic processes allow her to reflect on the relationship between image, time, and the viewer’s attention.
An integral part of her practice is the blog sam osm iso (https://samosmiso.tumblr.com), which documents her everyday life and work. She has exhibited at TIC Gallery, Díra, Photogether, or Nika Gallery.

Julie Petrůjová je fotografka původem z Ostravy, v současnosti žijící v Praze. Od roku 2020 studuje na Vysoké škole uměleckoprůmyslové v Praze v ateliéru volného umění. Ve své tvorbě se dlouhodobě věnuje práci v temné komoře, kde zkoumá možnosti analogové fotografie prostřednictvím experimentu. Pracovala s ušlechtilými tisky a později se světlocitlivou emulzí, přičemž samotný proces vzniku obrazu je pro ni klíčovou součástí práce.
Ve své tvorbě se zaměřuje na témata zpomalení, klidu a relaxace v kontrastu s přehceností současné společnosti. Zároveň zkoumá základní principy fotografie, její materialitu a hranice média. Experimentální přístup a práce s fotografickým procesem jí umožňují reflektovat vztah mezi obrazem, časem a pozorností diváka.
